HD TV IS COMING
TO EUROPE

The European market demand for High Definition (HD) TV is rapidly growing as households equip themselves with HDTV LCDs and the availability of HD channels becomes widespread. Across Europe over 200 HD channels are now being broadcasted mainly via the two major HD satellite broadcasters Eutelsat and Astra.

HD TV
HD TV stands for high definition television. It is a digital television broadcasting system and has a higher resolution than traditional television systems.
The direct benefit is a very sharp picture quality which requires a higher bandwidth than traditional content broadcasting. Sharp images are entitled to the higher compression rate MPEG 4 whereas for standard definition content the compression rate needed is MPEG 2.
HD ready
HD Ready television uses the latest technology to bring clearer and sharper television pictures and has a resolution of 1280x720p.
High definition broadcasts can be transmitted through a 16:9 widescreen HD Ready television.
HD V 1080p
A full high-definition widescreen has a resolution of 1920x1080p.
1080p can be referred to as Full HD or full high definition in order to differentiate it from other HD TV video modes.
